The group of protestors who have overtaken Nashville’s Legislative Plaza and demand that government officials defund the police alleged this week that one man there sexually assaulted two of them.
Left-wing activist Justin Jones posted Facebook videos this week in which he and other protestors said they escorted an unidentified man off the premises. Jones and others alleged that the man assaulted two women. Some protestors said they supported the idea of the victims filing police reports. The victims ultimately chose not to do that, according to Jones’ videos.
Jones posted one video of an unknown woman speaking from the plaza on Friday.
“The people here stand with sexual assault victims and, in doing that, we make sure that each case is handled how the sexual assault victim would like it to be handled. We are in support of victims contacting and filing police reports and we also are in support of victims who would like to use the safety that we have here,” the woman said.
“We do have safety and support here for victims as well as safety to protect us from assaulters and people who come here to divide this movement.”
Two women then appeared on camera. They said the unknown man assaulted them. They also said they would not file a police report and would handle the matter on their own.
“If this continues then we have no tolerance for it. If it continues, if you want to file a police report for a sexual assault then we’re not going to stop you from doing that,” one woman said.
“If you don’t want to file a police report then we’re not going to say that you’re wrong for not filing.”
She also said the man who allegedly assaulted her was not a part of their movement.
In the background of the video, Jones complained that the police did not intervene.
Jones posted another video, of himself only, and he said he was not at Legislative Plaza when the alleged assault occurred.
“What we found out was the people who were assaulted did not want the police to be called because they felt like the police have also been perpetrators of violence. One of the members of our camp here has been assaulted by an officer sexually. That’s why that decision was made. We will always support victims,” Jones said.
“There is a zero-tolerance policy of sexual assault at this camp. The one gentleman who has been harassing women — myself and another young man escorted him off physically on down the street and away from the camp. I think he has not returned since, even as he threatened us to shoot us in that moment. We use our bodies to escort him out of here.”
As The Tennessee Star reported earlier this month, Jones, during a rally for George Floyd, asked Nashville Mayor John Cooper if he would “commit to demilitarize the police department and defund the police department?”
Jones seemed disappointed when Cooper declined to say if he would.
Protestors said in a Facebook flyer that they want government officials to defund and demilitarize the police.

That Goofball Jones couldn’t escort a piss ant back to the ant hill.
“We do have safety and support here for victims as well as safety to protect us from assaulters and people who come here to divide this movement.” Well, they did a bang-up job (pardon the pun) in protecting those two women, didn’t they? Morons. And as far as that one woman’s claim she was assaulted by a police officer in the past (so therefore that obviously means ALL police officers are rapists/thugs and all women are victims of police officers), I know a mentally ill woman (schizophrenia) who claims to have been raped by nearly every man and most women she has ever run across.
When you judge the many by the actions of one or a few, that’s prejudice and bigotry. I thought that was supposedly one of the things for which these people are and were protesting and demonstrating. And, if so, I agree on that point.
Hey, they don’t need the police, right?
Jones says he helped escort the man then admitted later he wasn’t there. Seems immature and self-important.

Rule # 1 is don’t break the law. Rule # 2 is if pulled over, or stopped, don’t run. Rule #3 Simply provide your license, registration and proof of insurance. Rule # 4 SHUT YOUR MOUTH. EXERCISE YOUR 5TH AMENDMENT ‘CIVIL RIGHT.’ It’s pretty much that simple.
Perfectly said. If most of the “victims” of police brutality in this city followed those rules, most would still be alive and well. You can correct mistakes later if, if fact, mistakes are made. Rule # 5 might be, If you have a firearm drop it when told and by all means don’t run.
